  • Delaminating Wheels

    Hi,

I am unable to (work out how to) post the iphone photo of my "bubbling" alloy wheel but the actual surface finish is coming away in a couple of places and can now be removed with a fingernail. The car is a 1998 S50, on original alloys, with 80K on the clock. It has always lived outdoors.

What can/should I do? Would a simple recondition suffice? If so, could anyone recommend someone near (north) London? Some EU health and safety thing stops the main dealers from refurbing the wheels...

    Cheers,

    Adrian

it may be the lacquer that is coming off the wheels? a company called Lepsons have a good name for refurbs but not that near to North London.

There is a great refurb company called BJV Engineering www.wheelrefurbishing.co.uk and they are located in Flaunden near Watford/Hemel. They did a great job on my two tone black/chrome std m coupe wheels and relatively cheap too.

I would say its normal for an daily driver 80k miler on original wheels to suffer from this. Its a "bread n butter" repair ;-)

Sounds similar to mine. I got them done in a day (ideal if its your daily) at the Fareham branch of the wheel specialist.
