  • AC Schnitzer type 3 racing refurb

Ok so today I picked up some new 19" AC Schnitzer type 3 racing wheels, purchased from ebay in "good" condition.

After having a good look over them I want to refurb them to as new condition... As they are a 3 piece wheel I'm either going to have them stripped and powdercoated or polished, does anyone have any advice or recommendations on who I should use? I'm based in central scotland so any advice would be welcome.

I had mine refurbed by a local company but went for chrome powdercoat on the outer edge as hopefully it should last a lot longer than the polished or lacquered finish, wheels are two piece so fairly straight forward to split down.
Inner part is a BMW bright silver finish.

I had mine done by Spit and Polish. The rims had been refurbished before and unfortunately the lip is now very thin. That said they did a decent job.

Dave how do you find the Falken tyres? I need to buy 4 tyres once the wheels are refurbed and I don't want to spend Michelin money, the wheels are costing enough as it is.

I find them really good but I don't drive the coupe in winter so cant really give a all year round report, the only down side is they are appear quiet narrow for the sizes and

with a small rim protector it is very easy to curb the alloys so for that reason I wont be using them again on my coupe.

I will take a picture showing the side profile and show you what I mean.

Will 275's fit the rear or is that pushing it a bit? The tyres I'm taking off are 275 contis and have huge rim protectors but unfortunately they're nearly dead so will be getting replaced. Do you have any experience with Goodyear asymmetric they seem quite decent

You can find recommended tyre sizes here David:
                        http://www.z3mcoupe.com/forum/showpo...2&postcount=47

I run 285/30/18 on my rear 18" Type III with no issues on ACS suspension and recommended 10mm spacers.

Whether the 19" are any different I don't know.

The 19" listed on the ACS chart in the link are 265's while the 18's are 285. Maybe the wheel arches are narrower at the top hence why the 19's are listed as being narrower. I will check the width of the 18" ACS type III that I currently have fitted.

I'd like to go as wide as possible so if anybody has experience I'd be grateful for any input.

Here's a couple of pictures showing how much(or little) the Falkens 452 stick out from the rim,
