    Bit more progress made today

Got it off the trailer and next to the garage to make it easier to work on and saves running extension leads all over to run the grinder.

It also got treated to a new bonnet badge from Adz S when he called in to have a look

Mi bro’s coupe tucked away in the garage

Then got on with finishing off removing the black rubbish off the boot floor to see how bad the floor is.

    Before

After, doesn’t look as bad now it’s clean

Next job was to remove the diff and get a look at the underside, this looks a bit worse but nothing that can’t be fixed

Tomorrow’s job is to cut out the box section and boot floor

The channel / box section is being cut out from just inside the anti roll bar mounts (these are coming off as well to allow some strengthening plates to be fitted).

The floor is being removed to the edge of the lip on the channel on the underside and the full width of the floor to the raised sections at each side.

Yep, it's not a nice job IMO.....I've seen a few nice V8 conversions in various BMW's and take it from me, this isn't one of them.

Haha i am trying to avoid this V8 talk before i get silly ideas

Well managed to get the boot floor /diff mount out today

The member looks like its a bit past it

But have managed to jack the rest of the floor back up and start to weld it back in place :)

Off to enquire about getting a new section made tomorrow. The plan is to replace the underside U- section then weld a new plate in for the floor and then weld another U- section on the top to tie the floor into the 2 side rails.

The dodgy engine mounts they had made :( *(not sure they would take much power)

Back on with welding the diff mount up later

                      Could be your next project

Are you going to spray the engine bay white whilst its all in bits or leave it silver ?

Yeah think it had a licky escape really, it would of made a right mess if they had actually got it running :(

Haha nah think the mini is best with its 1380 in it :) any more power and it loses the mini feel

I am going to leave it silver as the rest is silver (inside, the under side of the floors, under the bonnet etc, even under the rubbers :( )

That subframe fix looks interesting so far.

                          Good luck with your project.

                          Best regards,

Well today the lower section of the boot floor repair has been welded in, will give it a clean up tomorrow and measure up for the upper part, hopefully it'll be welded in, sealed and painted by next weekend :)

Then i can start the nice easy job of putting the trim back in haha

This is begging for the new M3 V8 engine banging in. Get rid of that heavy iron block 6 cylinder.

                              David.

                              Good luck with build.

Haha its going to have to stay S50 powered for a bit, i can't afford a V8 and don't think the insurance company would like it.

Spent today messing with the electrics today, most things seem to be working. Need to look into the sun roof (it doesn't work), the dash lights (the side lights come on but none light up in the car) and the water pump for the heater (think the microswitch on the heater control needs slight adjustment).

Whilst looking round both coupes my bro spotted thses bushes on the front wishbones (he was looking for bits he could swap onto his), does anyone know what they are for?
