  • S50 alarm

Hi All. Our S50 alarm seems to have got a mind of its own recently. She’s parked inside under covers and is plugged into a battery conditioner. She kicks off for no apparent reason and i wondered if there were any straightforward checks to try before getting an electric specialist to look at her? As said she’s parked inside a locked workshop under dust covers so is not susceptible to the elements. Any thoughts would be welcome.

I would check or replace the bonnet switch as these can fail

As Dave says, the usual culprit is the bonnet switch. Had the same problem myself a few years ago, easy fix.

You can disconnect it whilst you’re waiting for the new one. Alarm will still arm to protect the rest of the car.
