  • Advice please: Failed Vanos

    Hey Guys

    Desperate for advice, please.

My vanos has failed, and the dealer says it will take 10 days for a new one to arrive. They've looked at the car (not sure if they have done anything), and they say it is fine if I use her as a daily driver until the new vanos is fitted.

At idle, the RPMs are very low (about 500), and the car rocks / has a lumpy, inconsistent idle.

She is smooth at driving speeds, but I haven't taken her above 4000 RPM. Fumes are stronger, and fuel consumption appears to have increased.

Has the dealer given me correct advice? Is it okay if I drive her, or am I doing damage to the engine?

Carry on driving it just using upto 3k revs.

I speak from a recent experience.

    Pm on way.

Manic, i had the same problem as you and it wa cured through replacing the Vanos Soleniod and not the Vanos itself this was done for £390 quid.

I have not had the problem since and have covered 7000 miles since.

      Hope this helps
