  • Insurance agreed value

    Time for the insurance renewal.
Currently with Adrian Flux. They didn’t agree with my value last year and knocked it down a bit. I didn’t argue but said I’d get ML to do a proper valuation this year. Obviously can’t get to ML at the mo.

Any recent experience out there on whether agreed values are being maintained by insurance companies or are they beginning to drop?

    Cheers

Classicline have always been great - they even increased the agreed value on mine this year without any prompt from me

Value based on you sending through photos of the car and what you value it at initially

Mine is up for renewal next week and will stick with Classicline , agreed value as per last couple of years but needed to take current pictures to show condition. Long winded way of saying you should be able to stick with your current value rather than drop it.

Footman James also really good. Agreed valuation without any hassle, just a form to fill in. And come renewal the cost hasn't increased

I'm with Lancaster very straightforward once my valuation was approved I was sent a valuation certificate which is valid for 2 years should one choose to renew.

Another vote for Classic Line, the process of completing agreed values is always straightforward with them. Originally with Adrian Flux but after the first year with them their premium increase was so unreasonable. All classics and non classics are now insured with Classic Line.

Just received my final documentation from Adrian Flux and no problem at all with my agreed value. The quote was good aswell, £55 down on their renewal quote they first sent me last month. I mentioned to them that I would be be using a dashcam which helped with the price reduction.
I completed the AF agreed value paperwork together with seven recent photographs. In addition I sent in my BMWCC valuation certificate and documentation (which I sent last year when I transferred to AF from Manning) from a few years ago which provided the basis for setting/maintaining my Agreed Value.
I did have a quote from Classic Line also which was quite competitive and they were happy to go with the BMWCC agreed value I had, but I elected to stay with AF and saved a couple of quid.

I guess the thing is to get the agreed value from from a reliable independent source to back up your request.

BMWCC agreed value certification - how long does it last and how much does it cost? Is the process labour intensive?

Renewed mine today with Classicline and just filled out the online valuation form and sent current pictures. (I valued it rather than having to get someone else involved)

I think from memory it’s 2 or 3 years, mine was done just under 3 years ago so I’ll probably get mine done again next year.
Cost was for me back then £24.99, for nonmembers £39.99.
Form to fill in, 10 photos, MOT, etc details are on BMWCC website. It takes a few weeks, as forms are sent first to office then out to Appointed Valuer. Bear in mind things will slow at the moment.
Classic Line might be a better option if you are short of time.
                      Good luck.

Should add that there is a charge with Classic line of £24 for the agreed valuation and although you can suggest the value they will ultimately need to agree it when they receive pictures and details of condition and takes around a week from filling the online form in to acceptance .

So just as an update, I reckon it will be c15% cheaper for me to switch to classicline having just got the quotes. Its pretty much like for like in terms of cover. I’ve been with aAF for about 5 years - and they might price match but I’m going anyway, they should have given me a keener renewal rather than wait for me to shop around. Btw I spoke to CL twice, v impressed with the service over the phone.
Thanks for the info. Very helpful as usual.
I’ll put some of the savings in the forum maintenance pot - well worth it

Does anyone know any 'mainstream' providers who do agreed valuation? My current insurer is significantly cheaper than through a specialist broker albeit without agreed value. I've tried ClassicLine, Footman James and a couple others....

Just had to complete my agreed value again this time as it only last 2 years with Classicline, will have to wait around a week to see if they approve it. (same as last time)
