Default Any checks that should be done?

My car (s50) is booked in at a BMW specialist for a few jobs. He's going to have a look at the oil leak which hopefully is just the constant pressure valve. And maybe a new clutch.
The question is this, other than a usual service, is there anything else I might as well replace or check while its with the specialist? Thinking belts, chains, stuff like that? The car has done 107,000 miles.

Yes look at belts but chain would normally be ok maybe look at the universal joint (doughnut) if replacing clutch

If you are replacing the clutch, have the gear box detents also done.

Had to google gear box detents

Is this what you mean?

If I bought the kit would it be easy for a mechanic to do?

It is I understand fairly straight forward to do, the big issue getting the gearbox out, hence do whilst clutch is being replaced. Around the 100K mark they usually begin to "stick", causing return problems with the gear lever.

Had mine done around the 120K mark (with replacement clutch), no issues since.

Alright, cool. I’ll discuss it with the mechanic.

Sometimes an oil change fixes it too. I remember when I got my car in 2005, when it was cold the spring return from 5th to centre would stick but it's not done it now for years (has had 2 oil changes since).

So the cars back from the mechanic. I travelled to a BMW specialist garage nearly 2 hours away from me! The owner is a member of the BMW NI club and comes highly recomended over here (Northern Ireland) on the BMW scene.
The garage is called Dungorkin Auto. He is cheap, did some of the work labour free because of the BMW NI club.

Work I had done;
Changed the short shifter back to the original. (so much better!)
Swapped the pressure valve which had been causing an oil leak.
Rewired the boot wiring loom as the back wiper and heated windscreen wasn't working.
Changed the valve cover to a reconditioned one I got on eBay.
Changed the gearbox oil.
Fitted a s/s clutch hose.
Fitted a new door seal (had a slight leak).
Sorted the noisy power steering, don't know what he did to fix it.
Gave the engine a once over, checked all the belts etc.

I supplied all the parts not including the oils and door seal.

It all came to £350. Not bad I reckon.
