Time to get the Dremel out. As you suspected chaps, just the tyre catching the liner. Scrapes on underside of splitter must be from crap parking from previous owner... couldn't have been me, lol

God, I'm such a stupid needless worrier

My front tyres were rubbing the liner very slightly after my wheel upgrade, I have just left them to wear away the bit where they touch and I haven't heard any rubbing for a while now!!

Had to replace my nearside wheel liner, after catching the front on a curb! it took the front lower screws off!however when fitting the new one i noticed that the top front fixing was missing,it is just a small nylon block that sits in the hole on the bodywork,it managed to lift the whole liner up a tad,for sure ime only running 17s,but this maybe of some help!

Cheers kwoffa I'll have a nosey.

I think the noise from mine was perhaps exaggerated somewhat, with the liner actually having split (about a 5cm length) so when the tyre did touch I imagine the two side of the split must be vibrating against each other making a right din. Really did sound like hard plastic against tarmac. Of course, I could be talking crap... seems to be my speciality

I've not been using the MC much due to all the road salt that's down at the moment, but I had to take it for MOT yesterday. Didn't get a chance to wash it last night so, with it already covered in grit I thought I'd head out for a decent run today. Christ, I absolutely bloody love driving this thing! Fantastic

Only downside to today was getting passed by not one, but three gritting lorries coming the other way, showering the front end. I managed to reduce speed to about a stop for one of them, minimising the impact of the grit but was in the middle of traffic for the other too. Two new stone chips and a little dint in the pressed number plate

Right... better get it washed sharpish
