  • Fuel filler flap locking actuator - replacing

Has anyone had to change their fuel filler flap locking actuator, if so, how was it done?

The little black pin that moves in and out to lock the flap has snapped off on mine (been like it a few years, just 'one of those jobs' ) so thought I'd try and get it sorted.

I've had a look in the Bentleys manual, albeit a quick one, and couldn't see it mentioned.

    Cheers

I haven't got the parts fitted but here's a picture with the wing removed,
you can just replace the cable and end piece I think

      Cheers, Dave.

Looks a ba**ache of a job then. I thought I read online something about an emergency release for the filler flap that is accessed from the boot, maybe one in the same thing then, effectively just pulling it all back through?

I might pop to my local dealer and ask a Tech if it's possible without removing the wing.

There should be a green cord you pull if the actuator fails which I would think is in the right side boot compartment above the M compressor?

It's the left hand end of item 20 that has broken on mine, it goes through the item 19 bush that's on the left hand side of the fuel filler cap opening

They added the actuator on facelift cars 04/99 onwards , early cars have a locking petrol cap

The flap doesn't have a lock. But the inside cap is lockable.

                              Ah yes, I remember now.

Certainly less hassle it if we're to break.....still take the S54 though...
