Apologies, been a bit busy and forgot to report back. Eventually secured 18" Falken 452s for both ends and, at Jonttt's suggestion(), now have 275s on the back (up from 255s). They do indeed give good protective cover for the alloys in case I catch a kerb when parking. Handling, if anything, feels better but that's probably my imagination. But if braking hard in a straight line, the car wants to wander slightly (must check tyre pressures)

I'll take a photo tomorrow to post up.

random old post, but i have found that falken tyres are narrower than many other brands of the same sidewall quoted sizes.

Are they yours Tony? Do you get any rubbing of tyre/arch with it being lowered?

Yes, photo is of mine mate. No rubbing at all at the rear. The fronts rub top-centre of the arch occasionally - still need to get the Dremel out to sort that.

Mine rub on the front plastic liner but you can just cut the outer lip off with a utility knife (avoiding stabbing the blade into your leg if possible as the plastic is pretty tough)

i think this is the time, where you realise you need a more equipped toolbox. and a first aid kit!
