Hi Dave, do you mean that the engine bay is not original colour spec?

Engine bay on a silver car should be a flat silvery/white undercoat colour,

Thanks, will add that to the list... to clarify would the oil cooler be a specific 'M' part? Speaking to the repairer I believe he has replaced with oem parts i.e. BMW parts so would imagine this has been done, but thanks for the tip.

The cooler was fitted to the M coupe/roadster and M3. Its bolted to the bottom of the radiator and the radiator is also an M coupe/roadster M3 part.

I'd be asking why the under bonnet/inner wings were painted black and not silver?

Silver paint costs the same as black, but black is good for covering things!

None M parts not OME for this car were used to repair. The repair was done on a cheap budget.

Just beware!

If your looking to use the car for it's intended purpose , enjoying it , don't be to worried about it being cat d and unoriginal , buy it and mod it to make it drive as they should . If your looking at long term investment keep saving , it's always going to be cat d and worth no where near what a straight one is . And as prices increase buyers will get ever more fussy with originality .
I had a cat d for 18 month or so and had a hoot with it , this investment lark is boring , get into buy to let property if your looking for financial returns , then keep your fingers crossed
