I read that a E46 diff can be exchanged for the stock one to have a mechanical limited slip diff in place of the ASC method of incoperating the ABS to limit wheel slippage. This would be on a 2000 MCoupe with the S52 engine. (USA)

The M Coupe has a mechanical clutch pack LSD as standard on all engines AFAIK. Certainly in Europe te S50 and S54 variants (the S54 having DSC which uses the brakes to give stability control. In europe ASC was crude and just throttle blocking) both have the same clutch LSD.

The E46 is a viscous variable locking diff and is a different fitment to the "e30" stryle Z3M diff. However the internal would probably swap over but I wouldn't say it's worht it.
